music and alcohol

It seems like its been so long since I last posted here, my account should have been deleted. Well, its still here, so cool.

Anyway, the story...

This last week, our band moved into this cool 'club' aka 'shack' for practicing and the like, so we threw a small get together this evening to play some tunes and have a little fun. Now, I've had my fair share of people throwing up in my car, but I can't think of a time I've seen that much at one time. Luckily, tonight I was taking my roommate home in his car. We got maybe 100 feet and dang, felt like I was waiting five minutes for him to finish defiling the side of the road.

I'm writing here to gross you out with that story, but MOSTLY to alert everyone to the show we're putting on at our 'club'. Sunday before Memorial Day, May 24th, there's going to be three bands playing including us, food, drinks and good times had by all. Feel free to message me for details.

Good night.

Chicago

8th November 2007 (15:22)
busy

current mood: busy
current song: Radiohead - Hail to the Thief

here's a fun photo Stefan took from our trip to Chicago.

It's a little difficult to see what makes this photo so interesting. Basically, my car has not more than 8 inches of space to either side of it. Stevo and Benjamin exited the vehicle prior to me parking it. I crawled out through the back door. Fun trip. the rest of the photos he took are posted here.

That was then, and now I have to study for a test I have to take tonight. I don't mind test taking but the material is so BORING. All well.

Last night I rode the light rail home from the Avalanche game. I overheard multiple conversations from different people in different age groups. A couple of tools (you know they're tools cause they're dressed in expensive 'pre worn' jeans and polo shirts) were talking about Comedy Central's South Park while a couple of little kids were talking about Michael Jackson Youtube videos. Anyway, is this what our society has come to? Nothing worthwhile but sporting events, television and internet? I guess I cant complain about it too much, most of last weekend was spent talking about South Park so now I'm being hypocritical. All well...

current song: quiet?

so, i was going to go to bed, but the bed was spinning too fast, so here i am posting to good ol' LJ. Jim makes this amazing drink called 'antifreeze.' tonight he made it with 8 bottles of vodka. it doesnt taste as strong as it is, so you better watch out. i mean, he makes gallons of the stuff at a time. anyway...
I'm somewhat addicted to reading books now. i think thats a good thing. i also managed to get back in the groove of practicing music, and that is a good thing, since the band should be taking off again soon. goodnight... i need to go sleep and get more sober.

the incovenient truth behind laughter and hangovers

16th September 2007 (12:50)
amused

current mood: amused

I have been blessed lately with an abundance of laughter lately. For example, this past Wednesday, Stevo almost got arrested for certain comments to a certain person on instant messenger. here is a picture that does not include the "these bushes are scratchy" part.

Last night, I won some money in a small poker tournament. I think its actually the first time I ever won a game. Either way, it's good, and beer was involved, which is also good. I'm feeling the side effects of the beer this morning. This is not good, its rather annoying. Well, '**** it' as they say. Best to enjoy things while they're good. My life, as it appears to me, is about balance. The good comes with the bad sure to follow, and then good again. Fine with me, as long as good exists, I don't need to kill myself.

guide to inferior inebriants

current song: As I Lay Dying

my supervisor bought me a beer today. im cool with free beer any day of the week. perhaps he just liked the homemade peach cobbler i took to work today. Colorado grown peaches = delicious.

interesting thing i learned today. my friend, Scott, apparently, or perhaps, allegedly, did not make it to boot camp when he said he was going to. he said he was leaving and i was not surprised to receive no communication from him. my brother barely called while he was in boot camp. turns out the recruiter called Mike (pastor for Scum of the Earth) who called my friend Benjamin who called my friend/roommate wondering where Scott was. the whole story does not make much sense to me. i believe some important pieces of the puzzle are missing. anyway, if you have information to Scott's whereabouts in the last month... it could be helpful to the 'unsolved mystery'. yet i have a feeling it will all become clear relatively soon anyway.

btw, iPods are not really submersible. i was blown away when it started working but after a couple hours it would not stop locking up. but i don't really need on anyway. mankind got along just as fine for the thousands of years before iPods anyway, and I don't need anymore stupid expensive belongings to cart around.

i always think at some point, things will die down and become boring and normal, if it exists. but come to think of it, who can complain with exciting and weird?

iPods are better than I thought

current song: Fatboy Slim - The Weekend Starts Here

Must have been about two months ago when a coworker of mine accidentally dropped my iPod into a bucket of coolant. It emerged from the murky depths in fine working order strangely enough, however, covered in slimy fluids, I panicked and grabbed the nearest cleaner I could find in a shop environment. Brake cleaner. This highly flammable and corrosive cleaner does a good job on coolant and oil and other things. One of the other things being plastic. My iPod gained a rough texture and ceased operation.

I was not mad about it. After all I got my use out of it, 7,400 songs accessed almost every day for about 18 months. I dismissed it as a minor material loss and kept in on the table as a conversation piece.

Today however, I decided to take it apart and divulge its innermost secrets. It was reveled to me, that it was still wet inside. Perhaps all the rubber, plastic and foam padding that protected it the many times I dropped it, sealed in moisture shorting the circuits. All it took was a paper towel and some compressed air and the iPod was in "mostly" proper working order.

Props to AppleĀ® for the iPod. It was worth every dollar.

those you can count on

22nd July 2007 (23:49)

So I was thinking about things the other day while staring into a campfire during a rainstorm. One thing I felt necessary to post here, is this:

Last year I dated a girl that, sad to say, left "some things to be desired." Basically, she annoyed the piss out of all my friends. However, during the entire ordeal, my friends put up with her just because she was with me. I believe that I do not express my appreciation to those people that deserve it often enough. Not just for that but for other things and just being all around bad-asses. If you do not feel that you are part of the "bad-ass" group, I have a feeling you are seriously mistaken. If there is something you have done for me that I perhaps have not shown enough appreciation for then I sincerely apologize. Anyway...

Went camping this past weekend somewhere near Aspen, CO. It rained a lot but the trip was quite a lot of fun. Tomorrow is back to work... all well..

meaning of life

23rd February 2007 (23:44)

I think I just had an epiphany. Then again, I also just got home from the bar. but here it is.

Live your life to the fullest, "live the now". and that means different things for different people in different stages. Like, im in the young, just started working, hang out at the bar stage. Just had an awesome time with Stevo and Benjamin. its not all about that tho. the next stage would be family.
There's this guy Behren I work with. He spends, what I would say, above average time with his family. Like eating lunch with his wife and kids, whether leaving work or at work. he took time off when his babysitter was sick, stuff like that. and I admire him for that. it seems not enough people realize family values. anyway...

i'm done for now, i dont know how drunk I am, but i do know how tired I am and I work tomorrow morning. most likely, this little paragraph is meaningless. I'll find out tomorrow.

May all you out there experience as much fun and excitement as I have recently, and if you haven't, give me a call and I will do everything in my power to make it so.

Ever notice how every neighborhood is pretty much the same? I drove 27 miles to a friends house just now, and I must have passed seven King Soopers and Home Depots and Targets. Thats not mentioning sub divisions and apartment complexes. I've lived in three states and other than factors like crime rate, climate and names, whats really that different?

I'm "ASE certified"

15th February 2007 (22:48)
current location: Home
current song: iTunes Party shuffle, its a party in every song

I realized it has been some time since I last posted anything on here when I briefly forgot the password. So I'm going to recapitulate some recent events, backwards like the movie Momento.

Today I did not work but I took some work related tests to achieve "ASE certification" which should direct more income my way in the future. Last night, my car slid on some ice into a hole. The good picture got deleted however I was able to post a picture. While I was at work, the energy company temporarily discontinued service at my residence due to their error in bill payment. It was taken care of before I got home.

Monday night, Stefan and Justin picked me up from the airport and we went to the pub for a pint. Good times were had by all. It was cold because I spent my weekend in San Antonio, which provided highs in the upper sixties everyday. We partook of good food, some drinking and seeing the sights. Always fun to get out of town for a couple days.

Christmas and New Years my brother was in town, he is serving our country for the USMC and it was certainly good spend time with him. He also went with Stevo and I to Albuquerque to visit Lauren. We stopped by my uncle's house while we were down there. That trip was well worth the hassle. The hassle being my transmission needed to be rebuilt (for 40,000 miles prior). I seriously felt rushed and as soon as I had the transmission bolted in we took off. There was no test drive to make sure I did it correctly or anything, I am just that confident and crazy. That trip was mid-December. Beginning of December I broke up with the only girl I've had a "serious" relationship with and I don't know how it ever happened between her and I. Well, I do but thats not the point. The break-up was quite hectic but I had back up from friends.

I spent time in my younger yeard thinking about how I could get enough money to buy the things I wanted. Now I know that its not stuff I want. I have friends that are willing to put my interests in front of theirs if only momentarily and I have a loving family. HDTV's look sweet but not as sweet as real life. Fast cars are fun now and then but they suck in the snow. So, if I have everything I want, what is there to strive for? I used to work hard for money to move into the band house. I've lived in the band house for more than a year and I can't remember the last time I practiced with the band. It turns I do not think what I have written is properly organized. My mind is racing right now, impeding the conclusion of this article. I need to sleep so I'm gonna leave this and attempt to rest.
